The first time he married Sarah Mott, daughter of Zebulon Mott and Rebecca Smith, on September 5, 1820. She was born on February 9, 1796 and died on May 17, 1829 at the age of 33. The second time he married Charlotte Bull Bird, daughter of John Dickenson Bull and Lydia Lawrence, on March 5, 1831. She was born on August 22, 1791 and died on June 22, 1832 at the age of 40. The third time he married Elisa Gillespie on February 28, 1835. She died on October 24, 1869.

"Before the outbreak of the Revolutionary War, he canvassed the town to see how many would pledge to maintain the Colonies. It was a dangerous thing to do, and for it he has been declared a Revolutionary Hero. His descendants are entitled to member ship in the Sons and the Daughters of American Revolution." RESIDENT: Charlestown, Mass., later removed to Providence, Rhode Islandi where she died. He married the widow of his brother DAVID, who died without issue. On December 25, 1720, following his death, his widow gave birth to a son, URIAH. The Register of Deeds at Providence, Rhode Island, where it is recorded on June 20, 1720.
