| Shared note | According to the Armistead Family History, Richard Talbot came to MD in 1649, and was the son of Sir Robert Talbott, the 2nd Baron of Carlton Co. in Kildare and Grace Calvert. Grace Calvert was the daughter of Sir George Calvert, 1st Baron Baltimore, and it was for her that Talbot County in MD was named. According to the Armistead material, Richard Talbot was next in line to become Earl of Shrewsbury, but his estates were confiscated, and he had to flee, because of his loyalty to King Charles. Richard and Elizabeth lived at Polar Knowle, West River Anne Arundel Co. MD. Horatio Brewer wrote; "Richard Talbot came in 1662. His homestead was Talbot's Range in Anne Arundel County. Edward Talbot came in 1663. His homestead was Portland Manor, 500 acres in Anne Arundel Co. Another Edward Talbot came in 1689. His homestead was Talbot's Range, 1021 acres in Baltimore County." |
