Shared note | Horatio Jones Brewer lists Joseph Newton as a descendent of Nathaniel Newton, who immigrated in 1660. I have found no documentation to support this, but his only son was named Nathaniel, perhaps after a grandfather? Horatio wrote; "Nathaniel Newton came in 1660. He lived in Prince George's County, was the father or grandfather of the Joseph Newton who married Ann Odle, (or O'Dell), in 1720, and lived at Piscattaway opposite Mount Vernon, VA." Other evidence indicates that Joseph was an immigrant who arrived on or before 1714. One source states that Joseph and Ann were married in England in 1720, and that his home was "Newton's Point" in Maryland. |
