| Shared note | S.R. Durand: "Alexander Bryan was the son of Thomas Bryan, who lived in Aylesbury. (A long article on the Bryan family was published in 'The American Genealogist,' Vol. 10, No. 2, October 1933, pp. 91-100 inclusive.) Thomas Bryan was born before 1564, when the parish registers in Aylesbury began, so there is no record of his baptism. He married before 1579 a first wife, whose name is not known. Their first or second child's baptism is recorded on March 13, 1579. His wife died before 1586, and Thomas Bryan married second on June 13, 1586 Frances Bowling of Aylesbury. They had 16 children, of whom our ancestor Alexander Bryan was the tenth. Thomas Bryan was a member of the merchant class, as a dealer in cotton and woolen goods. He died and was buried in Aylesbury on October 7, 1611. He was a man of some wealth. In his will, proved on November 5, 1611, he left to his son Alexander 30 pounds, for when he should become of age. Thomas Bryan's wife, Frances (Bowling) Bryan, was buried in Aylesbury on September 24, 1624. She had been baptized March 13, 1679, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Bowling of Aylesbury. Thomas Bowling was born about 1540, and was buried January 6, 1597; his wife Elizabeth was buried January 6, 1607 - exactly ten years later."
