!Source: Hale, House and Related Families by D.L.Jacobus and E.G.Waterman Page 3-9; Samuel Hale came early to New England, probably by 1634, and it is likely that he and his sister Martha were with their brother Thomas when he came to Hartford, Conn., in 1635, though there is no record of their being at Roxbury, Mass., with Thomas. If they did not accompany Thomas, it is certain that they soon joined him, for Samuel was in Hartford when the Pequot War broke out in 1637, and volunteered as a soldier. For this service he received a lot in Soldier's Field, Hartford, and on 11 May 1671 the General Court "grants Samuel Hale, of Wethersfield, sixty acres of land, upon the same tearmes with the Pequitt soldiers," In his will he referred to his service and gave the sixty acres to his son Benezer;
