The Stuart and Stewart Families. Stuart is the Catholic spelling,Stewart is the Anglican spelling. According to Elaine Atkinson, her mother Mary (Minnie) Augusta Stuart converted when she married Raymond McKinnon. She was a very devout Catholic.

Angus Stewart was born before 1805, the first event for which there is a recorded date. He married Mary ?. Angus became the father of Malcolm Stewart 1805. Listed as 76 years of age in the PEI, Canada 1881 Census for Suarts in Lot 67 Angus Stewart and Mary ? had the following children: Charles Stuart Brae, PEI, Canada, 1853. Daniel Stewart ) was born on (birth date ?). Alfonsus Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Angus Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Mary Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Christine Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Alexander Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Neil Stewart Neil died 1963.

Malcolm Stewart was born 1805. Listed as 76 years of age in the PEI, Canada 1881 Census for Suarts in Lot 67 Malcolm was Charles' half brother.

Second Generation 7. Alexander Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Alexander Stuart and Charles Stuart were full brothers. Alexander and Neil were half brothers. Alexander Stewart had the following children: Frances Stewart was born on (birth date ?). She married Howard S. Whelpley. Charles Stewart was born on (birth date ?). Charles Stuart (Angus Stewart) was born Brae, PEI, Canada. Charles died 1897 Brae, PEI, Canada , at 44 years of age. He married Ann MacKenzie Brae, PEI, Canada. Annie was born Brae, PEI, Canada 1856. At 22 years of age Charles became the father of Sadie Stuart 1875. At 25 years of age Charles became the father of Alexander Stuart 1878. At 26 years of age Charles became the father of Mary Agusta Stuart PEI, Canada, 8/22/1879. At 33 years of age Charles became the father of Priscilla Stuart Brae, PEI, Canada, 1886. He made a will Brae, PEI, Canada, 12/10/1897. PEI, Canada In the Supreme Court Estates Division Estate of Charles Stuart Late of Brae, Prince County, Deceased, testate Copy of will I Charles Stuart of Brae Lot or township No (No 9) in the Province of PEI, Canada Dominion of Canada doth on this tenth day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety seven make and declare this to by my last will and testament - I give and bequeath to each of my following children namely Sarrah,Priscilla, and Mary Jane, the sum of fifty Dollars same and invested in Savings Bank to be paid at the age of Twenty one years. I give and bequeath to my Daughter Minnie the sum of ten Dollars. I give and bequeath to my nephew Charles son of my brother Alexander the sum of Twenty five Dollars to be invested in Savings bank and paid at the age of twenty one years. The balance of my money in cash I give and bequeath to my wife Annie for the erection of buildings same to be paid at intervals during the work. I bequeath the proceeds realized within five years from my real Estate situated in Lot or township No. 67 in the said Island equally among my wife and children; younger children's share to be invested in Saving's Bank until they be twenty one year of age. I give and bequeath the one hundred acres of land fronting on road leading to Coleman Station marked on plan of Deed No 4) to my son Alexander said land not to be disposed of without consent of his mother-I give and bequeath all the rest of my real and personal property to my wife Annie providing she remains unmarried after my decease. And in the event of her marrying after my decease , the property to be sold and equally divided among my family, She shall have the privilege of keeping on the farm any of my Children on the terms they may agree. Notes are unclear on Charles Stuart. He may have been married to Mary McKenzie. Alex may have been Charles' brother instead of son. Grace, Louise and Priscilla may have been siblings of either Mary Agusta Stewart or of Mary McKenzie. Some of Charles Stewart's uncles went to the far West and British Columbia. He had one brother in Arlington MA, Dan Stewart. In a letter from Frances Stuart Whelpley, daughter of Alexander Stuart, to Mary Agusta Stuart (daughter of Charles), it seems that Charles ' brothers and sisters are: Alexander, Neil (half brother) ,Rebecca Stuart Macrae, Mary Christie Stuart Beaton, Mary Ann Stuart Spencer (her daughter is Lillian Pinkham). In the PEI, Canada Census for Lot 67, Charles is listed as 32 years of age. Charles Stuart and Ann MacKenzie had the following children: Jennie Stuart was born on (birth date ?). Jeannie died young. Could this be Mary Jane? Charles' will mentions Mary Jane 5/20/02 - Ann Louise Johnston Gwynn states that Mary Agusta's siblings are: Jenny, Priscilla, Sarah, Alex and maybe Sadie. Sadie Stuart was born 1875. Sadie died New Hampshire. She married Tim Sheldon. Could this be Sarrah? Charles Stuart's will mentions a daughter Sarrah and another daughter Mary Jane. A Sarah Stuart, 6 years old, is listed in the PEI, Canada 1881 Census for Lot 67. Alexander Stuart was born 1878. Priscilla Stuart was born Brae, PEI, Canada 1886. Priscilla died 1962 Michigan, at 76 years of age. She married Roderick MacKenzie.

Mary Agusta Stuart born on PEI, Canada 8/22/1879. Minnie Died 11/1/1968 Brighton, MA, at 89 years of age. She married Raymond McKinnon Boston, MA, 1/26/1903. Raymond was born PEI, Canada 6/2/1877. Larry MacDonald has birth as 7 June 1877. Raymond was the son of Felix McKinnon and Elizabeth McDonald.
