      Sir Thomas de Tunstall was a knight, and the feudal lord of Thurland Castle.  In Browning's "Americans of Royal Descent," the following is listed with reference to his coat of arms: "Arms, Sa., 3 Cock's Combs, Ar., 2 and 1.  Crest, a Cock, Ar., combed, etc., Or; in beak a scroll with motto, "Droit."  Browning also wrote:
      "He served, 'armed and attended,' by indenture with Henry V, dated 29 April, 1415, as a knight in France, and was at Agincourt, and was rewarded with the honor of Ponthieu... There was an effigy of him in St. Michael's (St. John the Baptist), Tunstall."
