Shared note | BIOGRAPHY S.R. Durand: "Betty (Long) Wiseman and Philip Wiseman lived at Haskell, County Hampshire, near Ringwood in England. When I visited Ringwood in 1970, the records [of the family of Philip Wiseman] were available to me for such a short time I did not have sufficient time to trace Philip Wiseman's ancestry, nor that of his wife. It most likely could be traced in the church records [of the parishes of St. Peter and St. Paul's church]. Family records made by one of my aunts who visited Ringwood many years ago and found [Betty and Philip's] gravestones in the churchyard state that Philip Wiseman died Feb. 20, 1818. While in Ringwood, I did make some notes of the baptisms of some of the children of Philip and Betty Wiseman It is interesting to note that between Dec. 25, 1791 and June 6, 1799 when William and Philip were baptized, respectively, a span of eight years exists in which the baptisms of other children were not recorded. Dr. Little [the Ringwood historian] told me that when he copied the parish records of six parished in and near Ringwood for the Genealogical Society of Great Britain, he found many lapses of periods of weeks when no recordings were made. In [other] family records, besides my ancestor James Wiseman, born in 1796 at Hampshire Hatches, another son, Joseph, is listed. He married as his second wife on February 3, 1831 a widow named Charlotte Brint. My grandfather, Samuel Relf Kemper, met these two and their son George and his family when he traveled to Ringwood in 1860. The Wiseman name goes back in church records in Ringwood to the earliest listing in 1560." Facts about this person: Alt.
