BIOGRAPHY S.R. Durand: "In 1970 when I visited Ringwood and spent part of a day with Dr. R.H. Little..., we found in the Sopley Parish records the baptismal dates of the children of Stephen and Mary Legge. Their children from these records and family records were: Mary, bp. July 18, 1784; Stephen, bp. Sept. 26, 1787; Hannah, who married a Mr. Bradford and died in India; Sarah, who married a Mr. Smith and lived in Winchester; Joseph, who like his father was a joiner (cabinetmaker); and Mary Ann, my great-grandmother, born in 1796. My great-[great]-grandfather, Stephen Legge, emigrated to Newfoundland, where he died. I believe that his wife died there too."
