!MARR: NEHG Register Vol 12 p217. An Elizabeth Whitney died in Newton, MA, in March of 1785, which may well be this woman, but without probate or other evidence, this is not certain. [Addition - AEG] It is, I think, significant that this woman was granted administration of the estate of her (deceased) husband in 1777, and presented an inventory on 31 Mar 1778. Then on 7 Dec 1785, 8 to 9 months after this death of the Elizabeth mentioned above, a second administration was granted on the estate of her husband, now deceased eight years. All this is consistent with the probate not having been finalized, the children leaving the matter to their mother, and then, following her death, reopening the matter to have it finally resolved.

Assumption confirmed by reference shown in sources.
