Shared note

From Pierce: "He was born either in Newton or Roxbury, probably the former place [actually Roxbury - in VR's]. When the Revolutionary War broke out, he enlisted in the company commanded by Capt. Wiswell, raised in Newton, and was at once promoted to sergeant. Later in the war he was serving as an ensign (or second lieutenant). He was granted a pension Apr. 13, 1818, and at that time he was residing in Windsor Co., VT, where he died 6 Jan 1826, ae. 81."

R. L. Ward, in his 6-Gen study of the descent of J&E, indicates specifically only one child with Esther Jackson, Abraham, b. 1779, and indicates that the other five were an "unknown spouse". However the space between that date and the marriage in March 1768, strongly suggests that the three children whose bd are left unspecified belong in between those dates. I suspect that the sources consulted simply listed the children as his without naming the spouse, and thus not "confirming" that they were children of Esther.
