| Shared note | S.R. Durand: "Robert Stanford is noted as the father of Rebecca Stanford. In 'The Pioneers of Maine and New Hampshire' by a Mr. Pope, on page 181 it reads: "Robert and Thomas Stanford of Falmouth, petitioned Gov. Andros 9ber 27th, 1687, deposing that they had been in actual possession and improvement of lands in the southward side of Casco River about 35 years (i.e., from about 1652) and asked to have the land surveyed for them. Thomas subscribed by his mark ("Stanford") to the oath of allegiance to Massachusetts Bay July 13, 1658, and signed a petition to the King in 1665. Robert also signed the latter.
