Shared note | William B. was the only living son of his parents. His brother, Ermon Eugene, died at one year of age in 1861. In his youth he worked on D&H Canal. He also worked for Wells Fargo at one time and for Swift's Meat Packing Co., delivering meat by horse and wagon. A year or so before he was to retire Swift Co. went out of business in Middletown and he lost his job and his pension. He was a skilled carpenter and made a least one model of a canal boat which he donated to a museum possibly in Middletown. (The museum may have been D&H Canal Museum at Cuddebackville, Sullivan Co., NY.) |
