In a letter, Aunt Lillian had, she said he was going back to NJ to work on the canal when he heard that his Uncle Nelson (Nelson Sinsabaugh) had died. " William Harrison, according to my father, was born in Greenfield. That is a crossroads west of Ellenville and over the line in Sullivan County. However, Isaac Roosa's family and his children lived chiefly in the town of Warwarsing of which Ellenville is the principle village. So I would think the Methodist church there or one that is no longer in existence,at Homowack, now Spring Glen, would have been where he might have been baptised. .........That is where the Wm. Harrison Roosa family went to church & from which both my grandparents' funeral services were held. The church, someone told me is now a Grange Hall. The community is largely Jewish now." Lillian Rider in a letter to R. Alexander 4/20/78. The homestead is believed to be on Manpel Road in the town of Spring Glen. The house is no longer in existance. |
