Shared note

Alvina arrived in South Australia in December 1848 on the ship "Alfred" from Germany. She was born in southern Germany and traveled with her parents and sister. They walked overland, pushing a cart of their possessions, to seek gold in Ballarat. During the Eureka Stockade her father was sought by the troopers. He hid by standing inside the chimney of their tent-hut to escape detection.
