S.R. Durand: "Noah reached his 21st birthday a few months after his father died, and received quite a large tract of land as his share of the estate. In a little less than three years he seems to have lost this land. When he was 25, he married Abigail Riggs, whose father, Edward Riggs, gave them the use of a large farm. Their home was one of happiness with the exception of the death of their daughter, Abigail, in 1738. At the birth of another child in 1744, the mother gave her life. Later, Edward Riggs took his farm, and Noah was left without property. In 1747 he remarried. About 1755 he moved to Oxford. Noah Durand had a bright and intellectual mind and he is said to have been the' flower of the family.' His second wife died in the 1770s. He and his brother, Joseph, died in the same year, the same day of the month, and in the same hour of the day."
