Biography: Per Edith Perry, the family lived in Neisdeick (Nesserdei ch), Holstein near the sea and were fisherman. Per Daughter Anna's birt h record, her father was a laborer (Reference Wahe/30). When married, Johann was "of Carolinenkoog employed on the farm of Jo hann Peter Pfahlen of Lunden" while Anna was employed in Carolinenkoo g "by the farm owner Behrend Diederich Bartels (Reference Wahe/255). The 1885 Moline City directory lists John as working for Moline Pum p Co. and residing at 1118 9th Street. At the time of his death, he was employ ed as a farm laborer by Peter Waehe and others in that neighborhood.
