Shared note | Died in 1718 in his 40th year, so identification as this Benjamin seems likely - Sherborn VR says "Coronet" - militia rank, I suppose. Watertown VR says born 6 Jan 1678 - and their transcriptions are not usually "corrected" when it comes to the double dating problem. R.L. Ward's notes: his will was proved 25 Sep 1718 in Sherborn, MA; On 21 Oct 1718 in Sherborn; inventory of Benjamin Whitney presented by Mrs. Mercy Whitney, widow, relict, and administratrix, taken by Samuel Bullard, Wm. Rider and Edmund Gookin. On 31 May 1721 in Sherborn; account of Marcy Frinck, executrix of the estate of her late husband, Benjamin Whitney, late of Sherborn. He was also known as Coronet Benjamin Whitney Jr., to distinguish him from his uncle, who also lived in Sherborn. He and Mercy Travis had no children.
