Shared note

One source has John coming to America from Cardiff, Wales. Another has him as a "founder of Annapolis". This may have some merit, as the town was originally settled in 1649 by followers of Puritanism who came from Virginia. The town was originally called Providence, then Town of Proctor's, then Town at the Severn, then Anne Arundel Town. In 1694 it was renamed Annapolis in honor of Princess, (later Queen), Anne of England and became capital of the province of Maryland.

Horatio Brewer wrote; "John Brewer came to Virginia in 1645 and moved to Maryland in 1649. His homestead was Brewerton on South River in Anne Arundel County 400 acres also Larkington a large estate in same county. In 1879 Brewerton was still in possession of the family".

It would appear that the John Brewer mentioned above was the father of John Brewer II, since, if he was born in 1644, would have been too young to have done these things.
