James Monroe, uS President No. 5, son of Spence Monroe and Elizabeth (Eliza) Jones, was born on April 28, 1758 in Monroe's Creek, Westmoreland Co., Virginia and died on July 4, 1831 in New York City, New York at the age of 73. He married Elizabeth Kortright, daughter of Laurence Kortright and Hannah Aspinwall, on February 16, 1786 in Trinity E Church, New York City, New York. She was born on June 30, 1768 in New York City, New York and died on September 23, 1830 in Oak Hill, Loudoun Co., Virginia at the age of 62.

Eliza Kortright Monroe, daughter of James Monroe and Elizabeth Kortright, was born on December 5, 1787 in Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Virginia and died in 1788 in Paris, France at the age of 27 days. She married George Hay on October 17, 1808 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He was born on December 15, 1765 in Williamsburg, Virginia and died on September 21, 1830 in Richmond, Virginia at the age of 64.

    2. Maria Hester Monroe, daughter of James Monroe and Elizabeth Kortright, was born in 1803 in Paris, France and died in 1804 in Oak Hill, Loudoun Co., Virginia at the age of 12 months. She married Samuel Laurence on March 9, 1820 in White House, Washington D.C.. He was born in 1799 and died in 1867 at the age of 68.
